Video Journalist Job Description
Primary Responsibilities:
- Research and Development:
- Research stories through interviews, social media, and other methods.
- Develop story ideas relevant to the audience and current events.
- Shooting & Production:
- Operate video cameras, drones, and other equipment to capture high-quality footage.
- Plan and conduct interviews with subjects.
- Set up and breakdown of equipment, lighting, and audio for shoots.
- Storytelling & Editing:
- Use video editing software to edit footage and create a coherent and engaging story.
- Incorporate graphics, sound, and other elements to enhance the story.
- Ensure content is factually accurate and unbiased.
- Publication & Distribution:
- Upload and publish videos to websites, social media, and other platforms.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as digital teams or broadcast teams, for the distribution of content.
- Technical Skills:
- Stay updated on the latest video editing software and technology.
- Troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
- Communication:
- Collaborate with editors, producers, and other journalists.
- Receive feedback and make necessary changes to the content.
- Convey story ideas and updates to the editorial team.
